Learn More About Dr. Zegeer
Dr. John Edward Zegeer grew up in Charleston's East End and graduated from Charleston High School. He then obtained his undergraduate degree in Biology at West Virginia University in 1977. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 1981.
With 40 years of dental experience, Dr. Zegeer was first an associate dentist for 16 years until he established his practice in Kanawha City in 1998. Since that time, he has devotedly provided the community with quality dentistry that he so passionately enjoys.
Away from the office, Dr. Zegeer loves sports, hunting, fishing, camping, and most of all, his wife Sharon and children Drew, Devon, and Josh.

Dr. Devon Nicole Zegeer is the daughter of Dr. John Zegeer. She recently graduated from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry.
Dr. Devon grew up in Charleston, is a die-hard WVU fan, and a puppy fanatic. She is a self-proclaimed foodie who loves trying new things. She is delighted to come back home after being in Morgantown for nine years to do what she loves while supporting her local community.
She has always been interested in the dental field and works diligently to be able to follow in her father's footsteps. She plans to learn a great deal from Dr. Zegeer while teaching him a few new tricks along the way.
Dr. Devon hopes that she can one day earn the respect and loyalty that the practice's amazing patients have imparted to her dad.
Our Team
Meagan (Front Desk Coordinator)
Meagan began her dental career in 2008 when she graduated as a dental assistant from Putnam Career and Technical Center. From assisting in the front office, she has worn many hats in the dental office and has loved every one of them. She joined the Zegeer Dental team in 2020 as Front Desk Coordinator. Getting to know her patients and making them smile is her favorite part of the job.
Meagan is a Putnam County native that has become a transplant resident of Rand, WV. She lives with her husband Michael and two children, daughter Meme and sons Marley and Brandon. In her free time, you'll find Meagan enjoying the mom life, spending time with her huge family (she is the oldest of four children), and traveling when she can. Meagan has an affinity for shoes and has more pairs than she cares to admit. She loves shopping and has a serious weakness for Starbucks, Target, and spaghetti.
Madi (Front Desk)
Madi graduated from Ross Medical Center's Dental Assisting Program in March of 2021. Though she's new to the game, Madi is an exceptionally fast learner and is implementing her new knowledge each and every day
This Racine-native can make any patient feel like she's known them for a lifetime and her at-ease personality calms patients during their dental visits to make for a pleasant experience. You'll be hard-pressed to find someone who Madi doesn't know, and that, in turn, makes her feel like family.
Madi likes to spend her time at home with her two girls and fur babies. She can binge-watch Netflix shows with the best of them and is a hardcore proponent of the Croc.
Stephanie (Registered Dental Hygienist)
Stephanie is a graduate of West Liberty State College with an Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene. She joined Zegeer Dental in 2001 and is dedicated to providing excellent patient care and education.
She is quick to make patients feel at ease by building confidence, trust, and relationships. She spends time getting to know every one of her patients to make their dental visit more like a sit-down with a friend.
Stephanie resides in Ripley with her husband John and two beautiful daughters Abigail and Jillian. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys traveling, concerts with her friends, trying new foods, and the Fourth of July.
Zoey (Registered Dental Hygienist)
Zoey grew up in Leewood, WV but now resides in Chesapeake with her dog, Twinkie, and cat, Snowstorm. She graduated from BridgeValley Community and Technical Center in 2020 with an Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene. While waiting to take her National Board Examination, Zoey worked as a dental assistant where she gained real-life experience in dentistry and more knowledge of the dental field, outside of just hygiene.
Zoey always loved going to the dentist as a child, and that is when she realized she wanted to help people by educating and providing quality dental services to the people of her home state. She loves when patients leave the office with confidence in their smiles!
When not cleaning teeth, you'll find Zoey out shopping, spending time with friends and family, hanging out at the local Mexican restaurant, and watching re-runs of The Golden Girls.
Hannah (Registered Dental Hygienist)
Hannah is the newest addition to our team of fantastic hygienists.
Hannah graduated from Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College in 2012 and hit the ground running. She has trained in many offices, allowing her to gain knowledge from the different dentists and hygienists she has had the pleasure of working with. She truly loves her career as a dental hygienist and makes comfort her goal while delivering quality and thorough care to her patients.
Hannah is a Boone County native and currently resides there with her most precious baby boy Coen. Hannah loves being a mama, the summertime, and being outdoors. She does love to travel, and you can find Hannah at her happiest near any body of water, but especially the beach!
Cheyeanne (Dental Assistant)
Cheyeanne is from Clay County, West Virginia. She graduated from West Virginia Junior College in 2020 as a Dental Assistant.
Cheyeanne's calming demeanor makes for a comfortable dental appointment. She loves seeing patients leave the office with a bright smile (as long as they're not drooping too much from the numbing). She and her empathetic nature enjoy seeing the change that can be made when someone feels confidence in their new smile. But no happy tears because she'll cry too!
Cheyeanne's hobbies include traveling, spending quality time with her family, house shopping, and loving on her precious puppy.
Ally (Dental Assistant)
Ally started working for Zegeer Dental in 2024 and has been an integral part of the team. She graduated from Carver Career Center's Dental Assisting Program in 2020 and has worked in the dental field ever since.
Ally's expertise allows for dental appointments to run smoothly and easily for patients, making for a much more enjoyable experience (for the dentists as well).
In her downtime, Ally enjoys spending time with her son Kashton, drag racing like a boss, and country music concerts with her friends. If you catch her out and about town, make sure to give her a shout (since she's too quiet to ever do so).
Hannah (Dental Assistant)
Hannah is the newest addition to the Zegeer Dental family. She currently lives in Elkview and attends West Virginia Junior College, where she will graduate this July and earn her Associate's Degree in Dental Assisting.
From an early age, Hannah has had a passion for dentistry. Her favorite aspect of being a dental assistant is make each patient feel comfortable at every single visit and watching them fall in love with their new smile!
Aside from working and school, Hannah enjoys spending time outdoors, online shopping, watching re-runs of The Vampire Diaries, and making new recipes she finds on TikTok.
